English Language Challenges

Finally, this is the last post of the semester (and ever). It's been a long academic year so I'm glad this is over. This curse in specific I've always tried to take it because since ever I have loved the langague, I even thought in studying it at USACh. But well, I ended up studying architecture 😂 So, as my 6th semester at university I can say my language was really in a nosedive. I didn't curse any other english level because I did well in the test when you sing up in the FAU. And it's not like it was hard for me to learn english, it has to do with the lost of the practice of it. In school I had english twice a week and I think I had a better level back then. I also think english is important in the university because it opens new realities and can expand the knowledge of the discipline. I think blogs help us to improve our coherence in english grammar and to learn new words. But I sometimes think this can be a boring task, I think another way of improving our ...

Should humans test on Animals to improve their lives?

We all are aware that humans get sick. This seems to be the only reasonable argument for animal testing, since through this practice many people are getting a solution to their heatlth problems. But what's the reason we kill or make sick animals to save humans? I really think its a very capitalist way of seeing the nature. I don't think animals are objects that can be produced to solve human needs, just as the trees are cut to make paper. I've been a vegetarian for 3 years and this has consolidated my thoughts on this matter. I'm able to live healthy without eating animals. So why anybody is looking for a solution on this topic?! Why not testing on cells or bacterias? I won't talk about the other things that are made by testing on animals because I think is really sad and it has no arguments in favor. Like the makeup thats made by testing... I mean, reconsider your life.

Holidays

On this holidays I will try to be better with myself. As I see it this year was particulary hard for me to confront my personal problems and being able to do well at university. In the past weeks I've been trying to relax because of all the stress that was in my head, and I think that I’ve accomplished that though the circumstances. So this summer is going to be my chance to put myself together and be happy. I disagree with people that tell me summer is only for travelling. I think it’s also a time of pause after all the stress of the year. Every year we go to the south of Chile with my family, in this instamce we're going to Caburgua after my classes are over. My mom thought about it and told me that it was the best option. I agree entirely because I think this will make me happy since it remembers me when I lived there (not actually there, I lived in Villarrica) and I was a joyful child.  When I come back to Santiago I'm not really sure what I'm going to do....

Post-graduate studies: Urbanism

When I (finally) finish architecture I'd love to study in a more depp way urbanism. The reasons are many, but the main one is because I like this discipline since it envolves many careers like geography, antropology, history and many other social sciences. Its a really theoretical area of architecture, in fact, other countries impart this area of knowledge as a single career. I've always liked reading and questioning myself thanks to the new ideas authors give me. Urbanism authors are capable of making me question everything, and not only that, they also give me ideas to project (as an architect).  When I study this postgrade, I'd like to study in depht how economy affects the urban infrastructure of the cities. For this objective I need to study history, economy and infrastructure. I don't know yet where I can study all of this, but lately I've been doing some research and Brazil has renowned universities that study urbanism from long ago, so thats an opti...

Willy and Pingo

Imagen
I have two cats and I just can't decide wich one I love the most, so I'm going to talk about them two. Willy is a 5 year-old cat, really furry and fat. Most of his hair is black but in the belly and the feets his hair is white, he has a little look alike Silvestre (from Silvestre and Piolin). My other cat is really different in comparison to Willy. His name is Pingo, is a 4 year-old car, blonde haired, really little and skinny. With my family don't know how he lost an eye, because when we adopted him from the street he already was one-eyed. So my cats are really cool as you can read. Another thing important to mention is that Willy is a surly cat meanwhile Pingo is the most loving cat. They mean the world to me. When Willy first came to our family, I had broken up with my boyfriend and Willy was so adorable that he helped me out to get over him jajaja. He, in spite of the fact sometimes is surly, loves me, I know that. He lies on my bed and let me pet his fat belly. In the...

FAM Victor Jara

FAM Victor Jara Today I'm going to talk about FAM festival. The initials mean "Festival de Arte y Memoria", wich in english means festival of art and memory. This festival takes place in the context of the conmemoration of Victor Jara's birthday (the 28th of september) and the dictatorship that took place in our country. After it was a festival, the conmemoration was only the day of Victor's birthday, but this year it was a whole week of music and dancing in memory of this artist and the circumstances in wich he and many other people died, and the legacy they left behind. The festival lasts 1 week, but I only attended to the conmemoration of Victor Jara's birthday, the 28th of september. It was in the Victor Jara stadium in the Universidad Latinoamericana's metro station, a really unnoted place in comparison to what's inside of it. I saw many artists that day, there was Manuel García, Pascuala Ilabaca, Intillimani, Elizabeth Morris, Nano Stern...

Camboriú, Brazil I would really like to go to Camboriu, because of the people and the nice weather the city has in comparison to Santiago. I travelled to this place 6 years ago and I had such a great time that it would be fascinating to go back with friends. I even think that’s the best trip I’ve ever had. The coolest thing about this place is its beaches.  The city has a lineal form and its accompanied by the beaches all along.  The most important avenue, called Avenida Atlántica, is next to the beaches and the urban fabric finishes there with little streets that are full of hotels, bars and shops. The commerce is also in Atlántica Avenue, where little shops sell corns and churros . This last thing is the first food I want to eat if I ever come back to Camboriú. Other thing I want to do if I go, is swimming a whole day long in the beach and then go for a walk in the city, meeting new people. Also I want to go to the disco to dance, and then wait for the dawn. In spite...
